I think it's really worth considering - I had no interest in the Kuta thing or lifestyle - but, the rest of the place sounds fascinating --- one thing I wanted to experience was being in a Hindu culture in the middle of the largest muslim population on the planet.

been going for many years ..often twice a year..when I first went Kuta was a village with rice padi and coconut palm farms between it and Legian....Seminyak didn’t exist....
..I love going for a swim...nice warm water...naturally healthy life style..fresh juices..coconut etc all around you...sunshine...
