Kutakid, if you're willing to pay the required ASX fees, you can have direct connectivity into the Market, and make small trades like that. The major institutional investors would have this kind of access.
The reason you, as retail investor, have a $500 minimum, is that your broker would not make any money (transaction fees) on trades of any smaller value, so has set that as their limit.
Whether they use the ability to make such small trades for genuine trades, or simply to influence price..well thats another issue altogether.
