Looking for a Graduate Exploration Geologist to join the team Position reports straight up to the Exploration Manager Generous compensation packages up to $85,000 AUD
The Role We are looking for a Graduate Exploration Geologist to join our team. The role will be based out of the Townsville office and significant travel onsite to the mine will be required. The project is campaign style exploration.
The Company Our client is a small copper mining company who is undertaking a variety of exploration projects in Western QLD and will experience significant growth over the next 2 - 7 years. Located in Townsville (QLD) Australia.
Purpose of the Role To co-manage geology exploration operations, provide regular reports of all aspects of exploration and planning to Cudeco management, and accurately and comprehensively collect geological data.
Primary Responsibilities • Supervision of drill operations and planning of drill schedules • Weekly exploration reporting to Cudeco management • Drillhole and exploration programme planning and implementation • Oversight and prioritisation of core shed and field exploration activities • To work in close partnership with the Senior Consultant Geologist • Assist in proofing and providing geological input for ASX releases • Ensure QA/QC protocols are adhered to across core shed & RC/RAB • Core logging, RC and Bedrock percussion chip logging, data entry • 'Grass-roots' Geology Fieldwork including mapping and reconnaissance • Provide budgets for exploration programme to the Exploration Manager • Provide assistance to external Geology and Project Development Team • Training of new Geologists and Field Assistants when and as required
Secondary Responsibilities • Ensure that the Company is promoted in a positive manner at all times • Assist in providing a safe and healthy work environment • Add professionalism at every opportunity • Maintain confidentiality
Essential Qualifications • Bachelors Degree in Geology or related discipline • Post-graduate study preferred • 1-4 years exploration geo experience • Field work plus Copper or hard rock experience • Exposure to mapping • 3 dimensional modelling • RC - technique in drilling • Experience in using MineSight or Surpac
