Well PC I think I can shed some light on the naming conventions that are in use at the moment in Thailand.
For L44/43 I believe it breaks out to:
L = Onshore (Land?), G = Offshore (Gulf of Thailand?)
44 = Lease number 44 in that years round of lease applications
43 = Year in Thai, 2007 = 2550. So 43 = 2000 for us
Normally the operator will assign a commonsense name or number to the wells, and only use the official title for government communications. Maybe a few more productive wells down the track we shall see this convention adopted. Double bonus for us of course in this is simpler naming with more production.
