Victoria is not south Australia. In South Australia they are not mandatory. but AGL do organize smart meters to be installed and did not give me an opt out option. I only found out I could opt out by mistake otherwise they install them without permission.
Silence is not legal acceptance. Therefore installationwithout permission is trespassto property. They present as sneaky
My concerns about privacy is not AGL, My own knowledge of how hacking has been achieved in the past. There was one case where a computer was hacked though a power supply. Which is old news by the way. I have friends who are electronics hobbyists who can probably do it.
Since i know that you can hack computers though power supply and and a smart meter is remotely connected to the power of a house it might follow if you can hack a smart meter you may be able to gain access to a computer through the power supply remotely.
