The info in this document (PDF) is proof and backs up what I have been saying for some time in my posts here, that is they wanted Optical Fusing in metalstorm non lethal rounds for reasons other than just for detonation, they want it to slow down the rounds that are fired at high velocity or medium velocity just before they reach the target.

If you extrapolate this out, it means that the Firestorm is a shoe in for MPM, you will also notice that they want this same feature (Optical Fusing) to work with existing 40mm technology like the M203 etc, this brings us all the way back to the request for metalstorm to incorporate it's selectable velocity technology into non lethal rounds for weapons like the M203, that is they want this ability that metalstorm has, to be able to select the velocity of the non lethal round without having to change the ammo, that is, it can fire low, medium and high velocity using the same round, and this is the reason why they want Optical Fusing, because they need to slow the round down when medium or high velocity is chosen, otherwise the round could possibly become lethal in it's own right if it wasn't!

This is also a "HUGE" indicator that Firestorm is a given for the MPM Lethal/Non Lethal choice!
