- Applications for PL's are made to the Director of Mines.
- The 2008 amendment to the Mines and Minerals Act (MMA), introduced an additional ground for refusal (of a PL), where the applicant already holds 3 prospecting licences and has no extant (existing) or pending miming lease.
- The Minerals Board can call for tenders for a PL over a given area under section 20(4) of the MMA.
- Should the Minerals Board deem the application for a PL acceptable, the next step is for the applicant to secure surface access rights - landowner consent to surface access is therefore a condition of grant.
The section in red (if it comes out in this post) is where we are up to now.
