Miami. I should think having a local missus and living locally, hopefully with an understanding of local persona, would be a great attribute to holding grass roots respect.
Rik Mayall may, as you say, be of strong moral fibre, and hopefully buys bread from the local baker, but it is the grass roots that will get the job. And a fair bit of coin to the locals, which is fair enough.
