Its the queen b'day long w'end in Perth. Interesting to see a write up frm JH. He's called it right, a wildcat, so should b an interesting one.

FWIW's ENI would have recorded the gas readings on the chromatograph & any coarse sands would have had a decent drill break, ie drilling rate picks up as the bit munches thro' the sediments & any HC's trapped get released & if the Mud density is low then u r exposed to a kick.

At DF, the overprs zone starts at 2100m. Each zone in this basin should b well demarketed by its seismic reflectors referred frm top to bottom as below,

    - Base of Pliocene - Yinggehai Formation (T20 seis marker)
    - Upper Miocene: Huangliu Formation (T30-T40 marker),
    - Mid Miocene: Meishan Formation ((T40-T50 marker)
    - Lower Miocene: Sanya Formation ((T50-T60 marker).

The gas bearing zone at the DF1-1 field covers an area of 288 sq kms & produces frm the Huangliu Formation, which has a decent porosity of 21-25%. At the DF13-2 discovery CNOOC had a 35m thick sand that flw'd 42 MMcfd.

So what we r waiting for post-logging, is a gas sample analysis frm the sample chamber to give an idea of the gas composition. I would expect it to b dry gas and if the porosity is good, then we could b looking at a good flow. So b4 all that happens we need an update on the progress. Handbrakes r still on here as everyone is cautious, afterall Premier tested 99% CO2 on their well a few moons back in Block 104 (see their Oct'11 release).
