I find these phase of the investment/trading cycle like a slow motion race against the clock (a clock on which you generally don't know how much time is left).

We all know more news is coming out, and if you're research has led you to a positive bias on the company, you'd expect this news will be 'good' news. So we have from now until then to acquire as much stock, as cheaply as possible before that news appears, otherwise we'll likely be paying a lot more than 1.3/1.4c!
