this is complete non-sense & incompetence
the government should not be paying compensation to speculative exploration companies because the local community is against the harmful activities of the company
the government needs to enact & administer proper mining laws that do not bring landowners, the community and the 'we don't give a damn' companies into conflict
if they made mistakes with MEL then they can compensate MEL for their incurred costs
this article states $80M: http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/taxpayers...gasco-licence-suspension-20150524-gh8evy.html, which amounts to 18 cents a share
it is so sickening to read shareholders here lusting & drooling over a taxpayer funded windfall
MEL had $120M in accumulated losses on its last balance sheet so why would they get $250M?
the general decent democratic community does not want this company & its shareholders
the general decent democratic community wants to preserve is water resources & farmlands for future generations
people have children so they can give & leave them good things rather than a wasteland
