Thanks to the Australian geospacial mapping company Nearmap, everyone can now get a bird’s eye view on the construction progress of Apple’s Campus 2 in Cupertino, California.
Originally, Apple planned to finish construction and open Campus 2 this 2015. However, many delays were experienced during its development which prompted its opening to be pushed back.
According to Apple Insider, the tech giant just recently fired two of its contractors, Skanska and DPR. The severing of the company’s partnership with the two contractors was caused by a disagreement regarding the revision of the scope of work. This was revealed through an internal email acquired by Silicon Valley Business Journal.
The news of the departure of Skanska and DPR first broke last week when Skanska planned on leaving the project after the completion of the core and shell of the building. However, Apple managed to maintain its relations with Rudolph & Sletten for constructing the interiors, while Holder Construction is still set on being responsible for the new headquarters’ electrical and plumbing.
Apple Campus 2 is currently US$2 billion over budget and its opening might be pushed back completely to 2017.
