The Smart Money Index is a sentiment indicator based on the idea that emotional, news-driven investors (the “dumb money”) tend to trade during the first half-hour of trading, while the more rational, professional investors (the “smart money”) tend to trade during the final hour after evaluating the day’s action in the markets.
