Sumitomo Metal Mining Solomon, SMMS, Ltd, a subsidiary of Japanese-based Sumitomo Metal Mining Company has spent 607-Thousand 5-Hundred dollars toward the provision of local scholarship awards for students in Isabel and Choiseul Provinces this year.
The scholarship awards are for students in areas where SMM Solomon Ltd had or is currently doing prospecting activities in Isabel and Choiseul Provinces.
SMMS has been providing scholarships to students in both provinces since 2012.
The scholarship award covers tuition fees for both high and tertiary institutions this year.
The scholarship awards provided by SMMS are in addition to other assistance given to the communities in Choiseul and Isabel Provinces as well as the recent donation to the Government for disaster relief efforts to victims of the April Flash flood.
