    Yes engineers get told of defects found in the regular required cycle inspections. They don't publicly announce what they have found, but must make reports back to the OEM's. If enough of these surface for types of aircraft they can be grounded, costing money for extra inspections, lose of trade and rectifications if required.

    So these engineers have come up with 10+ possible CVM applications with full knowledge of the inspection costs and aircraft downtime,

    So your right it's a commercial decision. Net inspection costs balanced against our CVM applications costs. Then there is the overall improvement in the aircraft safety if a fault is caught surfacing before the regular inspection cycle intervals.

    It costs heaps to replace an aircraft. The average price of a Boeing 737-800 is $US106M.

    That's about twice the Mcap of SMN. Makes us look very small.

    It's the OEM's coming up with these potential applications not SMN.
