American Airlines still have 24 A330s in their fleet. They inherited them from US Air when they merged a few years ago. They are supposed to go into early retirement by next year.
Delta also operate 42 A330s. Most of these came from Northwest when they merged in 2008, but 10 came new from the factory a few years ago.
A directive often applies to a specific model. E.g. it might be only one type of A330, say the A330-200F and not to other A330s. I can no longer see the directive but we can assume this to be the case here. None of the 46 or so A330s flying in the US would be affected by the directive, so it has been withdrawn.
