Interesting debate, if I understand correctly our governments have agreed with the advice from health experts regarding smoking and have regulated that each packet carry a warning. Our governments have also steadily increased taxes on cigarettes to dissuade smokers and our governments have banned most cigarette advertising. From these actions alone one could conclude that our governments believe that smoking kills you.
If smoking kills and the smoker is aware from various warnings that smoking kills, the smoker is committing suicide. Suicide is illegal and as such should be prosecuted by law, has anyone heard of a single Australian being prosecuted for suicide?
So is our government really serious about eliminating smoking or is our government really serious about raising taxes?
