I know one thing, I deplore the attack of an individual because he is different or of a minority, for being smart, dumb, nerdy, sporty, tall, short, ugly (view point) or beautiful (view point), homosexual, bisexual, red head, blond, black skinned, yellow, red or white skinned or left handed for that matter - it is all wrong.
The laws we pass however must be about maintaining standards and survival including the family unit. Simple really - and if a man-man unit or female-female unit come to take responsibility for the rearing of a child then they deserve legal and financial status as an equal with a male-female (normal / most common) unit on that level.
Two different issues here - human rights and social laws aimed at protection of the species.
