As Free will pointed out, your award probably prohibits it. It keeps the IF's in a degree of control and was part of the 'Choice' legislation. Also if you are Govt employee = no choice for SGC usually.

good luck trying to get $$ from an Industry Fund to a SMSF every few months. Whilst I'm sure you'll get a good system going and be on first name terms with some call centre staff, it can take a couple of months from start to finish each time (lost forms, wrong forms, wrong signatures, need Trust Deed, lost forms, lost cheque, no response to questions....oh thats right, they are great because they don't charge much in (obvious - but plenty behind the scene) fees. good luck
