    My understanding is that to include it in last years financials both the off market transfer form and actual transfer must be completed before June 30th at prevailing market rates at the time of the transfer.

    If you make an honest mistake then you may wriggle out of any major penalties. If you intentionally orchestrate the paperwork for your own financial gain/tax reduction you could risk your SMSF losing its compliance and then having its low tax rate removed and end up with a huge tax bill.

    Simply not worth it.

    Do all your off market transfers before June 30th and offset any profit by transferring some speculative stocks that are in lose (don't we all have some of those) - that way do postpone the tax until the SMSF sells.

    Watch your maximum levels per annum as penalty tax above certain rates can be a killer.
