I have had two private rulings this year, both in my favour. One of them in relation to an OS fund with nearly $1m in it. Very kind of the ATO to confirm my understanding of how the law will be administered.
Now, if you are trying to pull a fast one over the ATO, and don't disclose the full deck of cards then you will get hammered if found out.
Got to tell you, in my experience the tax authorities are pretty much good to go anywhere in the 'western world'.
