Free will has pretty well said what I was thinking. CGT can be controlled but can still be a cost. For a single / survivor the tax issues raise their head again.
On the flip side, upon death there are no tax issues with paying out to adult children.
In reality, a SMSF like the example wouldn't be that hard or relatively expensive to administer. But is the only option to get out of SMSF and therefore super entirely? I think they are 2 separate questions:
Super - yes / no?
SMSF - yes / no?
