I think these techniques are interesting, and necessary for hard-rock lithium production, but really brine is the way to go ultimately, lower costs of production usually, presumably much better higher-purity product via the evaporation process.
We're still talking off in the (near) future, but at some point efforts should be put into brine production if feasible.
