I like pumped storage, I have been banging on about it on HC for a number of years.
But I don't like centralised pumped hydro, for the same reasons I don't like a centralised electricity grid.
Spend the $2 billion on something that will benefit the whole of Australia.
By the time they got this up and running, most of Australia (at the household, business or community level) could have accessed, energy storage of their own.
