Firstly it rains a lot at the CXO site. Way more than Berry Springs or Mandorah. This place is a storm magnet. When the monsoons come most of CXO's leases and ELAs are under water. A lot of water.
Secondly the Grants site (and Hong Geng BP33 and other sites) is surrounded by floodplains. Floodplains that drain into, and are important ecosystems for both the Darwin Harbour and Bynoe Harbours.
Tomorrow it will likely rain again heavily at Grants as it did today, and according to the BOM and local Larrakia knowledge this may well continue right through monsoon and cyclone season.
