Rudd, the shortest serving prime minister since the great depression apparently. There is no doubt labor were in panic mode. The mining tax debacle was the last straw for the power broker unionists who run the labor government.

Rudd, Gillard, Swan, it doesn't matter who, they are just puppets. Rudd's strings unfortunately broke. Nothing has changed in terms of talent (or lack thereof) however I'd expect a surge for the female vote. Why else would they change leaders so close to the elections (8 months maximum)?

Poor Gillard is walking a tight rope. She won''t be able to renege too far on key issues as people will just ask why she supported decisions as part of the inner sanctum. And she can't continue without any changes. Is going to be interesting to see which areas they target.

Rudd's speech when announcing the spill and vote signed his death. It was a terrible speech.
