these are 2 potential reasons no weapons have been found the 3rd reason is that there were no weapons in the first place or at least in a quanity or form that posed a threat to anyone.
The US and UK made claims prior to the war of Iraq having a lot more than just 1/2 a tanker of anthrax.
Some of the items Iraq was supposed to have that made them a threat were
100s of tonnes of chemical agents Missiles capable of reaching over 500km Other delivery systems for chemical and bio weapons complex bio and chemical weapon production facilities advanced nuk weapon program
All this they are now saying may have been destroyed in the weeks leading up to the war or transferred to Syria.
This is a time when weapons inspectors were still running around the country, spy planes and satalites would have been monitering just about every inch of the country 24 hours a day, special forces troops were no doubt already conducting covert operations in the country not to mention Iraqi's who were sympathetic to the US supplying them information.
From all these sources the coalition were able to obtain information on troop movements, the setting of explosives on bridges and oil fields and even the exact location of Saddam which bought forward the start of the war by 2 days.
With all this though they have not been able to produce any proof the weapons were destroyed, moved or for that matter existed in the first place. Destroying or moving these weapons would have involved a major operation that could not have been conducted with out the knowledge of a large number of people and leaving some form of trail and it is extremly hard to believe that activity on the scale required to do this could be done and not detected.
