    Trouble is with "people, like you" is that you are triggered by exaggerated headlines and assume that it's a reflection of the science. You need to read them for what they are - click bait. In reality the predictions are always given a range of probability, with caveats and conditions.

    And yeah, some posters on HC copy/paste these headlines ad nauseum.

    1- 1.6 metres SLR by 2100 is quite possible if the world warms enough to melt enough land ice, which is a reasonable assumption given the rate of temperature rise as it is now. Other things like "tipping points" are conjecture.

    And yeah the global temperature is rising - very gradually of course, nothing even happens cataclysmically bar an asteroid strike or the like.

    (could not use the reply for some reason. jeez if HC is wasting money paying mods, why can't they get someone to fix the bugs in the reply editor!)
