there is no lack of gold in the ground, and there are many new companies starting up gold mining operations. the problem that remains is that these companies are small and and not mining enough to replace lost supply by the larger mines around the world.
Also, recognise that at current price most will not survive because of escalating costs. Its really all about costs, not the amount of gold impregnated in the earths crust.
