'Clean-up is under way following the oil well blow-out at the Trecate-Villa Fortuna onshore oilfield, in the province of Novara, north Italy. The well is owned by Agip SpA, the Italian oil company, part of the state-owned Eni Group. The blow-out, which lasted 36 hours and affected some 6 km2 of land, destroyed at least 1 year's rice production in the area and may prevent rice being cultivated for some years to come, according to Il Sole-24 Ore. Some 12,000 m3 of oil were lost, according to Legambiente, the environmental lobby group"
