Interesting comments in the last 3 minutes of the conference call re jurisdictions in Africa.
Paraphrasing:
'Some countries they wouldn't touch at the present time. Some countries that have a fairly disastrous recent history that we think are starting to improve. Need to look for projects that span the cycle'.
To me there are three (gold producing) countries that fit best in the 'disastrous recent history' category - Mali, Burkina Faso and Tanzania. I don't think he'd describe Tanzania as a disaster, more just poorly negotiated mining code and combative former government.
So that leaves Mali and Burkina Faso.
Spanning the cycle probably not a big issue as most of the projects on offer have 10+ years of reserve.
