for 20years what is now TLS has been demonised by all political parties,it is still governed by a charter of operation as a matter of legislation.

if TLS is broken up and the nbn becomes a reality TLS should at least in theory be able to operate as a public company ,all this prattle about buying SUN is just that prattle because reality says TLS constitution and the government would not allow such a marriage.

at present TLS has the responsibility of maintaining an ageing copper network which requires enormous maintenance,just ask people who live down the far south coast what happens when it rains,or how long it takes to get a fault cleared,and this is due to the enormous restrictions placed on TLS.

while i hate the cost of the nbn ,on a comparative basis it might not be as expensive as the growing maintenance bill for an ageing copper network that gets upgraded in a piecemeal fashion,the USA went down that road with dire consequences .

there is no point trying to compare Australia with Britain,Europe or the USA our closest relative would probably be Canada

we should all wait and see the proposal
