Ahh sorry Meteor but a bit of pedantry if we may. Believe you are misquoting the big man. Apparently never used that line though came close. A case of the devil is in the detail but then "a man outa do what he thinks is best " Apparently he had a favorite horse. During shooting 1 film,every time he dismounted he would go and lift its tail and kiss it you know where. Intrigued by this most unusual habit one of the other crew came and said to big John that he must really love that horse. Wayne replied it was not love but that he had dry lips. The crew guy was even more astounded and inquired was that because of some oil or healing balm it extruded. "Nope" replied big J "but sure has heck stops me from licking my lips" Boom Boom.
