OK where to start....
An ROV....is a remotely operated vehicle....a submarine with manipulator arms and cameras that will dive down to the well head once the rig disconnects....
It will be used to repair any damage to the wellhead facing....grinding and bufffing, cleaning away any sea growth etc...
It will then install a gasket on the top of the well head face and place a well cap on the well head and secure it all down...
By putting the gasket and cap on it allows you to come back to the well head at a later date and latch back on , that way you can go into the same hole again later on and drill out the plugs and cement if you want to use the hole again.....
Other times they will cut the well head off below the sea floor and remove the well head altogether leaving not a trace on the sea floor that there was ever a hole drilled...
The first option is more normal however...
