Who dares wins. I disagree that we are too late in the energy cycle to explore, in fact I believe hydrocarbon demand has a long way to go. RE will be a viable substitute for an increasing amount of hydrocarbon use, but we've all been drinking the climate change, renewable energy cool-aid for too long. The world cannot afford to transition in such a short time and the current RE options don't scale economically for the bulk of the world's population (or for us in Oz either).
