Time for a new thread...must be a few comments out there...
I'm now speccing a larger holder is unwinding - hopefully not orbis, but controlled enough to drop the sp by half a tick a day at worst. How long this lasts depends not only on the position to unload, but moreso now the affect on sentiment of other holders. So far no real fears of a run hence the state of the order books with most of the buy volume at 9.9 and 10c. Breaking the 10c would be interesting since most of the st and med term profits would be eroded. Pretty bad timing by the directors all round - expectations for the aug reports were dashed, followed by a statement a month or so later that cap raising would pay out mccabe (neither of which impressed the market) followed by the inevitable profit locking, and just to tail it all off, the seasonal pre-new year unwinding. With no divs in sight, little guidance, and the only thing to look forward to being the end if year lvr, not alot on the horizon other than put these shares back in the bottom drawer. Would love to be wrong, but with this 1 horse board pulling the reins, hard to see otherwise. Still believe the lt prospects are good for the sector, but might be that vpg instead of being a leader, just gets on the bus for the ride. Perceptions are incredibly important - other companies in worse condition trade at higher prices with more stability such as the centro groups, or gmg with the never say die Greg at the helm. On fundamentals there isn't a huge gulf, but in terms of perception and trust, that's another question. Media coverage of vpg in 2008 wasn't pretty for those who remember - would be great if hurley read any of these posts and stepped up to the plate. Can't have everything, but I would be really surprised if he didn't know what's going on at present - after all, his comments regarding the cap raising suggests a close relationship with the bigger investors.
