I've been doing some checking out of who is behind this capital raising of 10c, and who might be backing the company and why.

Pelagic and Ochre will be taking two seats on the CRL Board after the capital raising. Pelagic and Ochre have Directors who share Director roles in ABU (just got a 19.9% new shareholder), RRI (currently on the Block and has an advisor managing the interest in RRI), and EMR. The names of these folks behind this new move are McAndrew Rudisill, and Nathan Featherby- who we may welcome to the Board at some point. Imants Kins is also a close colleague.

Pelagic has three categories of investments:

Portfolio Investments - Investments where Pelagic takes a management or board level position.

Strategic Investments - Exposure to a project or management team where there may be future synergy with a Pelagic Portfolio Investment.

Options – Quantifiable risk exposure gained through long term options that are received in exchange for structuring or advising on financial restructuring or project drop downs from previously analyzed assets and companies.

Ok, so the above looks familiar to what is happening with CRL: take Board positions, get long-dated options, etc. What seems to have happened is that CRL has been identified by these new people, and the have a plan for CRL. They will take on a role as co-investors and advisors, via the current recapitalisation, or so it seems to me.

These guys from Pelagic and Ochre are loaded. As an example, Nathan Featherby (Ochre) bought $1.25m shares in RRI @ 25c when the share price was 14c. They have something in common with CRL: many of the shares in the companies they have an interest in, are owned by them under their own name, or by companies they hold, or by their associates.

So, why CRL? One can only speculate/hypothesise/guess this. RRI (Pelagic and Ochre Directors) have an asset- Wonmunna Project- that has seen interest to buy (see their ANN on Evercore Partners as advisor to this), and may have assets other than Wonmurra that could be of interest to CRL. That is a pure guess. We just won't know at this point.

Why this post? Well, a number of us have just put money into CRL. Intially, the placement seemed "too good to be true", but having done some background reading of who is behind the "new" CRL (sleepy company that it was), it has opened up a new way of seeing. There's a poster on HC: abra8867, who seems to know way more than I do about Pelagic, Ochre, and Messers Rudisill and Featherby (thanks for the heads up on this via your posts, abra8867). He is on our CRL threads. Make use of him. :)

There are people with a plan for this company. We'll soon find out what is it, I guess!
