You should understand this basic ASX action before even buying a single share.

A seller knows it won't go for the low price they place during Auction they are simply ensuring their order places first.

The Auction system averages out and the highest seller will match first as will the lowest seller.

Easy.

So for example I don't want to have an overhang of shares I will place a order for the lowest price and guarantee a sale out first before all other orders which will sell for the Average. If you have comsec it will show you an indicative price during this period.
