These are not proven beliefs, It is new age philosophy based on older traditions such as esoteric Hinduism, for example. The greatest difficulty with these beliefs being the mind itself...the brain/mind being the agency of forming a mental representation of the world and self, hence our subjective experiences are shaped and formed by culture and belief.
Hindus having 'experiences' relating to Shiva or Brahma, Muslims with Allah, Christians with Jesus and the angels, etc. None of which necessarily exist outside of the mind of the believer.
