The company I work for manufactures eftpos terminals for two major Customers. Our sell price is somewhere between $300 to $2000 for each terminal. The cost depends on the variant or application / environment needed by the Customer. Our Customer would more than likely double (or more than double) that price to their end Customer which would be the major banks like ANZ, WBC, NAB etc. I'm not sure how this cost is passed on to the end user or consumer but at the end of the day we pay for it. I would imagine the banks would charge a monthly rental and transaction fee. I see no reason why the Terminal cost recovery would be any different to the current system. There must be some retailers on here that can explain how the banks charge the merchant???
