Hey ND, yeh had a good one thanks, hope you did too.
Got my latest electricity bill yesterday. Used to pay $450-$520 a quarter. Installed 6kw solar array with 5kw inverter and latest bill is $169.

Daily supply charge came to about $130 and GST was $27... so the diff between what actual electricity we used at 25c/kWh and what we sold back at 8c/kWh was $12 for the quarter.

Solar system cost me $6750 and saving $300-$400 a quarter (and probably using more electricity with clothes dryer and air-con through the day.)

Average daily usage for us is now 6.5kwh, so in theory could go close to moving offgrid to save that supply charge with a 10kwh battery.

My basic conundrum remains this. Capital outlay of $6750 for solar system is reducing electricity bill by say $350 a quarter. Spending another $20k on a Zcell battery and compatible inverter will only save me $130 a quarter (assuming that we go off grid and no longer pay the supply charge).
Even though I'm getting stuffed with the feed in tariff, the low cost of solar now means that it's still economically better to remain on grid and get fisted with their supply charge, than it is to tie up almost $20k capital for a Zcell.

I understand everyone's situation is different, just putting my real world example out there for investors to consider.
