    IMO soccer is just terrible. It's a game played by a team, but encourages solo effort and ego more so than any other sport. My kids will not be encouraged to play it, but they will be encouraged to play rugby or aussie rules as it truly teaches the value of team performance.

    Playing 90 minutes with 22 players, but the actions of an individual in an instant decide the outcome? Not a good basis for learning.

    There are enough football codes in Australia without this game.

    I personally avoid any mention of the sport like the plague, be it on the news or Grandstand or anywhere for that matter.

    And another thing while I'm at it. The so called fans carrying on fighting and throwing flares and ripping up chairs, all trying to imitate the European way of watching the sport? Grow up and stay off my tv.
