    Anyone who has ever played soccer knows that a kick on the ankle bone or the shin bone is like banging your funny bone or knee on a door frame or a table ... it hurts like hell for about a minute. Then the pain subsides.

    And that explains a lot of the incidences when players go down like they have been shot then get up and walk away. Not all of them, I admit, but a lot of them.

    Kicks on the bone are common in soccer but don't happen so often in other football codes.

    Feigning injury and diving are two very different things. Diving is out and out cheating and I and most other soccer fans hate it as much as non-soccer people.
