Premier of South Australia, Jay Weatherill in Seattle yesterday meeting with Buddy. Dave had apparently organised a group of "investors" (not Google & Tesla) to meet with him, which I take are similar startups to Buddy who are looking to list on the ASX and open an office in Adelaide as part of the Investment Attraction South Australia grant. http://invest.sa.gov.au/case-studies/buddy-platform/

A REVIVAL of the sister-city relationship between Adelaide and the Texas capital of Austin will be on the agenda for Premier Jay Weatherill who leaves today on a 10-day mission to the US.

“Austin has a strong cultural community and economic activity based on the creative industries,” he said.
“It links conferences, film and media with technology and advanced manufacturing.”
This provided many similarities with South Australia and Adelaide and Mr Weatherill said he would explore opportunities for the cities to work together and learn from each other.
He will attend part of the South by South West festival, joining a business group from Flinders University’s New Venture Institute. The festival combines music, film and technology.
Austin and Adelaide became sister cities in 1983.
Its city council last year invited an Adelaide representative to visit and exchange gifts after agreeing to return a set of jewels, including a pendant from the Lady Mayoress’s Chain, given to Austin by Adelaide 33 years ago.

Mr Weatherill also will visit Chicago, Pittsburgh, Detroit and San Francisco.
In Chicago, he will meet Greensmith Energy, a major supplier of battery storage technology to capture renewable energy.
“As we push very heavily into renewables, they are potentially a very important partner for us,” he said.
Pittsburgh endured similar economic shocks now faced by SA and Mr Weatherill will meet community leaders to share strategies for transformation.
In Detroit, he will meet General Motors to discuss the future of the Holden site.
In San Francisco, he will meet Tesla representatives to hear about electric cars, autonomous vehicles and battery technology.
SA expatriate David McLauchlan, founder of data processor Buddy Platform, has organised a group of potential investors to meet Mr Weatherill in San Francisco.
