Smart Cities are where all the investment is going at the moment from big companies and is what will really drive mass IoT adoption. So if Buddy really wants to chase the big bucks that's where the money lies. Buddy has some big links to this field which I will post about in upcoming months as more announcements are made.
The Environment is where we probably need more focus on pollution monitoring and the effect of climate change. Buddy focussing on this area will mean direct investment by government agencies which equals to very slow approvals, and lots of red tape. Also judging by the Flint water crisis that was highlighted, money is being taken out of this area rather than more being invested.
Resource management and Heavy Industry there are probably big opportunities to "landgrab" as there are probably less competitors with a big push in that space. As opposed to all the big companies spending billions on Smart City platforms to take a leadership position.
