Tears of hope also became tears of joy when Bannerman Resources recently handed over a cheque of N$5000 to Naftalina Mauha of Mondesa, Swakopmund to realise the dream of a proper orphanage for the many orphans she has been taking care of since 2002.
The donation is part of Bannerman?s social responsibility drive, ?Doing Things Differently?. The proceeds were given to Naftalina on behalf of the guests that attended the recently held Bannerman Resources Stakeholder function at the Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre.
?Rather than giving our valued guests a gift to take home, we decided to make a donation on their behalf to a charity. We selected four charities and asked each guest to nominate the charity they wanted their donation to be made to,? said Bannerman?s general manager, Brandon Munro.
Other charities that benefited from the stakeholder function held on 14 February, are the Erongo House of Safety, a Swakopmund refuge for orphans or children whose parents cannot afford to take care of them (N$4000), the Swakopmund Mayoral Development Fund (N$1000) and the Walvis Bay Children?s Shelter, a half way house for vulnerable children (N$1000).
