Disaster Dan is now setting his sights on the Victorian rental market. In addition to trying to increase supply (which is smart) Andrews is also looking at moving rental increases to every two years and looking at rent price controls (which is dumb).
Andrews is a hard left populist, so short term things like price controls are right up his alley, and help a big cohort of his voters.
The increase from one to two years for a rental increase is also smart, because instead of calling it a rent freeze (new laws will push out increases by two years), it simply a move to "improve renter security".
Victoria is basically under the rule of a moderate greens ideology, which is a country mile away from centrist.
