Socotra is the largest and most biodiverse island in the Arab...

Socotra is the largest and most biodiverse island in the Arab world it is also known for its strategic location and became a power struggle to many gulf countries vying control of it.
Moreover though, Socotra is more than that and it has really never been given much thought, I researched about this island for many years and can say its mystery and uniqueness is what captivated me the most towards it but while researching thoroughly I found many shocking things about it first its potential for hydrocarbons.A new plate reconstruction has enabled the Island of Socotra, currently located in the Gulf of Aden adjacent to the Somalian coast, to be confidently restored to its original spatial position, adjacent to the southern Omani coastline. New studies integrated with these plate reconstructions, have confirmed the presence of an untested Mesozoic graben, which trends across the Socotra platform. Fieldwork carried out in the region now enables a SE extension of the prolific Lower Cretaceous Qishn `play` (delinated in the Masilah Basin, onshore Yemen) to be postulated offshore into the Gulf of Aden. Following the award of offshore acreage adjacent to the Island of Socotra, exploration studies have confirmed the presence of the Qishn `play` both on the Island of Socotra, and offshore in the one available basin-margin control well. This work has also identified two additional plays: the Shuabia-equivalent carbonates, which are prolific producing reservoirs in central Oman; and the Permo-Triassic clastics, which may provide a new reservoir target for the region. Fieldwork has also identified Jurassic siliclastics outcropping on the Island, which may provide further reservoir potential. Ongoing multidisciplinary studies, integrating the results of a detailed geophysical interpretation with high resolution structural-stratigraphic studies, have confirmed the presence ofmore » large structures within an undrilled Mesozoic rift-basin, which will be tested.
This was written by Semantic Scholar. But this is not only it https://assets.geoexpro.com/legacy-files/articles/Hot%20Spot%20Yemen.pdf by reading this which was written in 2007 before the Arab Spring it clearly said Socotra was a frontier area where only three wells have been drilled one with shows suggesting an existence of a working petroleum system. Socotra hydrocarbon blocks are pretty big unlike other middle eastern countries which don't have access to the large , wide ocean . Socotra lies in the Indian ocean south , Arabian sea north , Gulf of Aden west so its hydrocarbon offshore blocks are spread out. To add to the point oil seeps have been discovered in Samhah island an island belonging to the Socotra archipelago.
Also Socotra onshore basement is intensely fractured and fractured basement are becoming a common target for hydrocarbons in Yemen and worldwide which can give it a more potential in the hydrocarbon exploration target.https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-030-32930-3_14.
Socotra is a virgin however if things settle in Yemen and the war settles down and commercial oil is found offshore or otherwise in Socotra than it could spell a disaster as well.
First Socotra immense and important biodiversity that it hold is a treasure itself can be irritated.
Somalia is more near to Socotra than Yemen which can make civil war become something way out of hand and bigger than it already is for these two countries already experiencing difficulty in the time being.
Socotra is in the hands of a corrupt government like yemen their has been reports in the island of illegal mineral prospecting and its rich unexplored waters have been exploited by foreign countries marine fishes .
So what do you guys think about this leave comments below would love to know ?
