From this article it appears not. Also a reduction in other rare resources such as Cobalt. This article talks about the anode having a double layer of graphene which increases the energy density, as opposed to the current graphite anodes. Will it take over with technological advancements? We’ll find out in a decade or two when and if it then is proven to be economically and technically viable. Further advancements in Lithium batteries won’t cease either so it still has many chemical properties that may keep it ahead of the pack for decades. IMO.
