Never ceases to amase me that people who have little or no idea about programmed maintenance. Seemingly always seen as a negative when in actual fact it is a major positive and displays excellent, disciplined management.

Where operations fail is running plant into the ground by failing to successfully (or even at all) plan shutdown maintenance. This being done just to "keep up the tons" and treat maintenance as a cost, instead of a currency as smart managers do.

Want a tip for free? Watch for any company skimping on maintenance and then look at the debt/cash levels. I will guarantee you the company is in the toilet or about to be and is trying to grab some cash to pull them out of trouble.

I have never yet been involved with a planned shutdown that didn't result in much higher production output and longevity of plant life. That is why they do it, so don't give me the "they are down 28%" nonsense! They will make this up in no time at all now.
